Israel has officially won the Eurovision contest with Netta Barzilai’s song ‘Toy’ for the first time in 20 years, sending everyone in Israel with feeling of national pride. It was an amazing performance, and an amazing song sung by a brilliantly talented women with a great message.

But that isn’t the best part of this story:

Of course, there was a BDS campaign going against Netta to win the contest since she became a favorite. There were even protests outside of the arena on the night of, but it didn’t stop our win. BDS supporters were completely shocked. A very public and stinging loss on their side because Eurovision will be taking place in Jerusalem in 2019.

Netta didn’t even win because of winning any European country votes, but she won from the public votes that were cast by the people of the world. This is a very sure sign of how ineffective the BDS campaign is to hurt Israel’s image. I’ve even heard from a lot of people on Twitter that the BDS campaign has become very stale, and they are sick of making everything political against Israel.

Congratulations Netta, you deserve it and so does Israel. It’s a sign of great things to come, and the BDS campaigners are gearing up for a boycott of the Eurovision contest next year. No doubt in my mind it’ll fail, just like this one.
