Happy to report that the Park Slope Coop BDS vote which we discussed a few weeks ago ended last night in a resounding defeat for BDS. 1005 voted against a referendum and 653 in favor (5-0 against it within the Board of Directors). The vote aroused considerable local interest including from New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg who said:
“We should be encouraging Israel to have more business with us and us with them, not discouraging it.”
At the end of the day though it was members of the local Park Slope community who rallied together and successfully defended their community from the poison of BDS. Well done!
